EVLINK Unveils Next-Generation High-Voltage PTC Coolant Heater for Advanced EV Thermal Management

EVLINK Unveils Next-Generation High-Voltage PTC Coolant Heater for Advanced EV Thermal Management

2026-10-29
As the global electric vehicle industry moves toward 400V–800V and higher-voltage architectures, the demand for efficient, reliable thermal management across a wide range of climate conditions continues to grow. Electric commercial vehicles, in particular, require thermal management solutions that deliver consistent performance, high energy efficiency, and seamless system integration.

As an innovator in automotive thermal management, EVLINK is committed to developing advanced solutions for electric trucks, buses, and construction machinery. Through continuous innovation in high-voltage heating technology, intelligent control strategies, and system integration, EVLINK helps vehicle manufacturers optimize thermal management performance and support reliable vehicle operation in diverse environmental conditions.

Overcoming Thermal Management Challenges in Extreme Cold

Unlike conventional internal combustion engine vehicles, which can utilize engine waste heat for cabin heating, battery-electric vehicles require dedicated heating solutions to maintain cabin comfort and battery operating temperatures.

EVLINK's next-generation high-voltage PTC coolant heater is engineered to support thermal management in demanding low-temperature environments, with operation down to -40°C under specified conditions. With an electrical-to-thermal conversion efficiency of over 98% under specified test conditions, it provides an efficient heat source for electric vehicle thermal management systems.

By heating the circulating coolant, the system supports two key applications:

Cabin Heating
Provides a controllable heat source for the vehicle's HVAC system, helping deliver cabin heating performance in cold weather.

Battery Thermal Management
Helps preheat the battery pack toward its target operating temperature, supporting battery performance, reducing cold-weather limitations, and enabling more effective charging strategies when supported by the vehicle's battery management system.

Key Technology Highlights

1. PTC-Based Thermal Regulation
Built around Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heating technology, the heater benefits from the material's self-regulating electrical characteristics. As temperature increases, electrical resistance rises, helping limit heating power and reduce the risk of overheating when the system is properly designed and controlled.

2. Wide High-Voltage Compatibility

Designed for high-voltage electric vehicle platforms, the heater supports a DC operating voltage range of 350–800V, subject to the specified product configuration. This enables integration into a broad range of current and next-generation electric vehicle architectures.

3. Intelligent CAN/LIN Communication
CAN/LIN communication capabilities support interaction with vehicle electronic control units (ECUs), enabling heating power regulation, operating-status monitoring, and fault diagnostics according to the selected configuration.

Advanced control strategies help coordinate heating demand with vehicle-level thermal management requirements.

4. Automotive-Grade Reliability
Designed for demanding automotive operating environments, the heater can be configured to meet applicable environmental protection and reliability requirements. Available protection ratings and qualification specifications depend on the product model and configuration.

EVLINK's quality management and engineering processes support consistent product development and integration for automotive applications.

Empowering OEMs and Tier 1 Suppliers Worldwide

EVLINK's high-voltage PTC coolant heating technology is designed to help vehicle manufacturers address the challenges of cold-weather operation while supporting efficient and flexible thermal management system integration.

By providing a dedicated coolant heating solution for cabin heating and battery thermal management, EVLINK helps OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers develop application-specific architectures for electric commercial vehicles and other high-voltage EV platforms.
